The St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter conducts volunteer trainings on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. or one Saturday a month. These dates are advertised on the Shelter Facebook page and the web page. After supervisor training on disease control, policy, safe handling and behavior, volunteers are then prepared to come to the shelter and to start helping.
Once trained, volunteers can come in whenever they would like. Prior to training, volunteers can come to walk dogs, play with cats but must have a staff member bring the animals to them.
Contact the shelter at (985) 783-5010 for more information on volunteering your time or talents to support homeless animals in our area. You must be 14 years or older to do physical volunteer work at the shelter and fill out appropriate paperwork.
