The St. Charles Parish Recreation Department is now registering for the Shooting Stars Basketball program, designed for children ages 5 to 18 with disabilities.
Games are flexible and tailored to the players’ individual abilities. Teams are organized according to player abilities rather than ages. Each player is paired with a “buddy” to encourage and assist them on the court as needed.
Registration forms are available at the Recreation Department located at 171 Keller Street in Hahnville, or by calling Theresa Theriot at (985) 783-5090.
The St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department has planned a five-game season with a break over the Thanksgiving holidays. The first game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Landry Alternative School gymnasium on River Road in Hahnville. Registration forms will be accepted until throughout the season. The registration fee is $15 per player.
High school students interested in being a player’s “buddy” (or assistant) are asked to contact Theriot as well. Buddies can earn community service hours for their time helping players learn basketball skills.
