COMMUNITY NOTICE: ENTERGY'S ST. CHARLES POWER STATION NEAR COMPLETION
On or about Feb. 13, St. Charles Power Station will undergo “steam blows.” This test, which will occur every day for about three weeks, involves producing harmless water vapor, or steam.
That steam will be directed through the steam piping and vented to the atmosphere to ensure the steam generator components and lines connecting them to the steam turbine are clean. This is done to prevent damage to the turbine and to ensure high quality steam for permanent operation of the new equipment.
Noise levels will also be elevated while the testing is conducted.PHOTO: The picture depicts what residents can expect to see from a typical steam cloud produced during a continuous steam blow operation.
