REP. GRAVES VISITS LOCAL TALKSHOW IN ST. CHARLES PARISH

Graves and Parish President Discuss Levees, Flood Insurance and More

Post Date:March 05, 2018 3:57 PM

United States Congressman Garret Graves recently stopped by the set of local talk show St. Charles Parish today to discuss key issues affecting residents for the show’s March episode. The episode is airing now.

“Garret has always been and still is one of St. Charles Parish’s greatest advocates,” said Parish President Larry Cochran. “He understands the needs of our parish, works hard with our leadership to get things done and we thank him for that.”

Graves, joined by Cochran, was interviewed by host Tristan Babin to provide information on some of the most important topics affecting St. Charles Parish including levee protection, the status of the National Flood Insurance Program and flood insurance rates. He also provided an update on the biggest projects coming from Washington D.C.

Prior to serving as a representative for Louisiana’s 6th district, Graves served as the Chairman of the Coastal Restoration and Protection Authority where he helped St. Charles Parish procure millions of dollars in grant funding for the West Bank Hurricane Protection Levee in Luling. Graves spoke at the levee’s groundbreaking in 2014 and has since been back to visit construction as early as summer of 2017.

The levee is the parish’s largest infrastructure project in recent history and a video update on its construction is also featured as part of the show’s March episode.

St. Charles Parish Today is a monthly talk show filmed by local high school students at the Satellite Center in Luling and produced by the parish’s Public Information Office to air on the government access television channel SCP-TV.
